The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Representative Gebran Bassil, called on the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, to return the general amnesty law, and not just challenge it, indicating that the movement will challenge the law because of what he described as “constitutional and legal atrocities.” Bassil considered that the House of Representatives "committed a crime against the army and the people," accusing it of releasing "murderers, drug dealers, and terrorists, in addition to the oppressed." He said, "The law is being manipulated, and the nation as well, by the system."
